INTENSIVE COURSES

Our intensive courses are a great opportunity to improve your Italian quickly. With the help of a professional and qualified teacher, you will develop speaking/listening skills as well as grammar awareness in a short amount of time. This is a great way to get immersed into the Italian language and culture.

ITALIAN FOR TRAVELLING

Overview/course content and outcome:


During this course you will learn how to introduce yourself, giving and asking personal information, how to order in a bar or restaurant, purchase in a shop, book a hotel, ask for directions or make arrangments to meet someone. Cultural knowledge is also part of this course, as it is important for students to be aware of some traditions, beliefs and behaviours they will experience while in Italy.
Different grammar topics are covered during the course, through the use of inductive grammar.
Classes will work on the four abilities (speaking, listening, reading and writing), focusing on the speaking.
A communicative approach is used. Students engage in interactive language activities, participating in group and pair work. Students will also be offered guidance in self-study and homework tasks.
Target audience: Suitable for someone that has no previous knowledge of Italian.

ITALIAN FOR ITALIANS
Overview/course content and outcome:


The course is designed for those who have a previous knowledge of the language, but want to improve it, through the reading of articles, listening to the news, or watching a movie.
The course is aimed to give you the confidence to talk in Italian, about different range of topics, such as politics, the economy, current affairs and offers you an insight on what Italy is today.
Different grammar topics are covered during the course, through the use of inductive grammar. Classes will work on the four abilities (speaking, listening, reading and writing), focusing on the speaking.

CARPE DIEM – LATIN LANGUAGE COURSE (2 levels)

 

Carpe Diem beginners level 1

Latin is a language deeply connected with many European languages: Italian, but also Spanish, French, Romanian and English! In fact, there are lots of words, currently used, that derive from this ancient idiom, such as: persona non grata, memorandum and carpe diem! So, don’t waste anymore time, carpe diem and enrol now!

During this course you will be introduced to the fundaments of Latin, discovering its links and connections with modern languages, in addition to learning about Roman history, religion, daily life, politics...

Target audience: The beginners 1 course is suitable to those who have no previous knowledge of the language.

Students continue learning Latin Grammar and syntax through more complex continuous reading passages. Connection between English and Latin vocabulary is emphasized as is the heritage of the Roman world in Western history. Students will learn more about Roman conquests and Romanisation, trade, Romans in Egypt, medicine and science.

Target audience: The beginners 2 course is suitable for someone that has completed beginners 1 or equivalent.
