On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the great master of Italian cinema.
“8 e ½” is the fourth film presented within the Fellini retrospective organized by Classic Cinemas and promoted by the IIC Melbourne in collaboraton with the IIC Sydney. The film will be screening at the Classic Cinemas Elsternwick to an audience.
The IIC Melbourne has invited Elisabetta Ferrari (Lecturer in Italian Studies, University of Melbourne) to introduce every film in the program.

Plot: Troubled Italian filmmaker Guido Anselmi (Marcello Mastroianni) struggles with creative stasis as he attempts to get a new movie off the ground. Overwhelmed by his work and personal life, the director retreats into his thoughts, which often focus on his loves, both past and present, and frequently wander into fantastical territory. As he tries to sort out his many entanglements, romantic and otherwise, Anselmi finds his production becoming more and more autobiographical.
8 e ½ won two Oscars in 1964, one as Best Foreign Language Film and the other as Best Costume Design
