organs ballarat 2018For ten days each January, the Organs of the Ballarat Goldfields winds its way through the Ballarat Goldfields region, presenting amazing recitals in heritage churches and halls built following the discovery of gold.

Founded by Italian musician Sergio de Pieri, who comes each year from Venice in his role as director, it is not surprising that the festival always celebrates Italy’s rich musical culture. Since 1996 when the festival began, not only has Sergio de Pieri persuaded many Italian musicians to make the long journey to Australia to perform, he has also inspired some of Australia’s finest musicians to give recitals of the Italian composers including Monteverdi, Vivaldi, Verdi,  and the music of the Italian Rennaissance.

The IIC Melbourne has proudly provided encouragement and much support since the festival began.
