On June 24th The Italian Cultural Institute, in collaboration with COASIT and COMITES, organized an event at the bilingual Australian-Italian Brunswick South Primary School to donate copies of the books ‘Timpa travels through Italy’ and ‘Geronimo Stilton – A Thousand wonders in blue’.
These two special editions were specifically published for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation by Franco Cosimo Panini and Edizioni Piemme-Mondadori Libri, aiming to promote knowledge of Italy and its rich cultural heritage, engaging children and youth in discovering its historical, gastronomic, and scenic wonders.
The event was attended by the Consul General of Italy in Melbourne, Hanna Pappalardo, the Acting Principal of BSPS Toby Mestitz, the Assistant Principal Sarah Burdak, the Bilingual Language Leader Nancy Cozzo, the School Council Members, the Italian Subcommittee members, the Staff of the School, the Italian Cultural Institute and the representatives of COASIT and COMITES.
The school welcomed the visit of Consul General with songs, speeches and a tour though the classrooms. The children from Foundation to Grade 6 were introduced to the characters of the books through an exhibition of 13 interactive panels featuring Timpa and a series of workshops and drawing classes led by the illustrator Erica Facchini.
This event holds particular significance as it celebrates the unity of the Italian community and its ongoing efforts to promote Italian language, literature, and culture in Victoria and across Australia.
The Italian Institute extends gratitude to Brunswick South Primary School for hosting this special event and acknowledges all who contributed to its success.
