The Italian Cultural Institute proudly supports the Cinema Reborn 2025 edition with the screening of PAISAN.

Cinema Reborn Film Festival, an annual event dedicated to preserving screen heritage, is curated by a passionate community of filmmakers, historians, and critics who highlight the artistry of cinema and treasures held in film archives worldwide.

PAISAN (1946), directed by Roberto Rossellini, is a powerful film about the liberation of Italy during World War II, featuring six episodes from Sicily to the Po Valley. With its documentary-like style and blend of professional and non-professional actors, the film portrays the struggles of different cultures to communicate in the aftermath of war.

The screening will be introduced by Cristóbal Escobar, on May 12th at Lido Cinemas, Hawthorn.

Cinema Reborn runs at Lido Cinemas from May 8 to May 13, 2025.
