The Consulate General of Italy in Melbourne, in collaboration with Co.As.It Melbourne, the Italian Cultural Institute of Melbourne, Comites Victoria and Tasmania and the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Australia – Melbourne Inc., participate in the commemoration of the International Holocaust Memorial Day 2023 with the screening of the film “Terezin” by Gabriele Guidi.
The event is co-presented with the Melbourne Holocaust Museum, the Honorary Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Melbourne, the Honorary Consulate of the Czech Republic in Melbourne, the Goethe-Institut and the Jewish Film Festival.
Synopsis: The film tells the story of Antonio, an Italian clarinetist, and Martina, a Czechoslovakian violinist, who fall in love in Prague during the Second World War. In 1942 they were deported to Terezin where their love story intertwined with the incredible events of the many artists and intellectuals locked up in the ghetto. The human and artistic excellence of central Europe who, during the war, created hundreds of productions still represented today and unique in the world, managing to make art their survival tool.
