The Italian Cultural Institute of Melbourne and the Consulate General of Italy in Melbourne are pleased to support Taglietti: Life in Design, an exhibition dedicated to the work, vision and legacy of Italian-born architect Enrico Taglietti.

Hosted at the Design Gallery, Melbourne School of Design, University of Melbourne, the exhibition will be inaugurated with a special event on 23 July 2026, with the participation of the Consul General of Italy in Melbourne, Chiara Mauri. The exhibition will be open to the public from 24 July to 28 August 2026 and is also part of the Open House Melbourne Weekend opening program.

Born in Milan, Enrico Taglietti developed a distinctive architectural language that made a significant contribution to modern Australian architecture. His work in Australia includes well-known projects such as the St Kilda Public Library in Melbourne, Giralang Primary School in Canberra and St Anthony Parish Church in Sydney.

Taglietti’s practice was guided by a deep understanding of architecture as a response to human need. His projects placed civic life, atmosphere, light and human experience at the centre of design, offering an alternative to approaches driven primarily by speed and efficiency.

Taglietti: Life in Design explores the life and career of one of Australia’s most original architects, whose work extended beyond buildings to embrace interiors, graphics, landscape, urban design and everyday life. The exhibition also highlights the creative partnership between Enrico and Franca Taglietti and the enduring relevance of their holistic approach to design.
