Original version. Subtitles: English
In the first film of the “trilogy of life” Pasolini creates, from Boccaccio’s nine short stories, a happy work, a game, in which ” it is narrated for the sake of narration ” (Pier Paolo Pasolini).
“I didn’t choose characters from the Decameron by chance but to offer examples of reality. A character from the Decameron is the exact opposite of a character seen in television programs or so-called comfort films. This is to remain only on the level of the figurative idea. From the Decameron onwards, this is what matters most, this physicality of the character, which imposes itself. “
