The body of a woman is found on the banks of the Tiber. There is certainly no shortage of suspects: there is a thief, a soldier, a pimp and two young men. Everyone has their own alibi and tells their own version of events. Maybe the killer is somewhere else.
“The subject of the ‘La commare Secca’ is by Pasolini; Sergio Citti and I wrote it, and at the time I didn’t know I had to direct it. It was a competition to correct each other: he was my tenderness in front of the characters, I was his ancient wisdom that leads him to smile. But I still hadn’t identified the real threat, the meaning of that rich, varied and ultimately elusive story. I got there on my own, out of poetic rather than logical commitment when they proposed that I direct it. ” (Bernardo Bertolucci)
