The life of a wealthy industrial middle class family is turned upside down by a mysterious guest. All family members establish relationships with him that result in sexual contact. The Guest leaves and leaves the family lost and without identity, only the servant, which symbolically represents the people, reacts by revealing a fierce mystical dimension.
“The representative synthesis of Pasolini’s presence, especially in the direction of a total poem, capable of incorporating everything in itself. Everything in this film exudes poetry. If you watch it again it now, many years later, ‘Teorema’ gives the sense of a strange distance, of a detachment, which is not due to obsolescence, or loss of timeliness, but to crystallisation, decantation, and I dare say, entering the deeper and happier ‘mania’ of this film, to a transformation into a heavenly, sidereal element. ” (Andrea Zanzotto)
