From 22 to 28 November, the sixth edition of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World will take place all over the world by the diplomatic, consular and cultural network of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
The main theme of this edition is “Tradition and perspectives of Italian cuisine: awareness and enhancement of food sustainability“.
Guidelines include:
>the promotion of the Mediterranean Diet as a balanced diet model and as a healthy dietary lifestyle;
>the fight against the spread of front-pack labeling systems that hinge on nutritional profiles and algorithms, not supported by solid scientific bases, which aim to discriminate foods by simply qualifying them as “healthy” or “unhealthy”, and therefore likely to penalize Mediterranean diet and Made in Italy products;
>the protection and enhancement of products with a protected and controlled name, together with actions to combat the phenomenon of Italian sounding;
>the importance of the connection between biodiversity and food diversity;
>promotional activities of national wine production, aimed at improving its positioning on international markets on the basis of responsible and sustainable choices;
>the enhancement of the food and wine traditions of the Italian regions and territories, also for tourism purposes, in connection with the three-year plan of the National Tourism Agency-ENIT.
