Cinema Reborn returns to Lido Cinemas in Hawthorn from Friday May 8th, 2026 to Sunday May 17th, 2026!
Developed by a community of cinema enthusiasts, programmers, filmmakers, screen historians and critics, the festival aims to bring back to the big screen restored classics, in order to celebrate the art of cinema through history; it also highlights the importance of heritage and preservation of cinema’s hidden treasures. The Italian Cultural Institute of Melbourne is proud to announce that this year Cinema Reborn will also feature White Nights (Notti Bianche), an adaptation of a short story by Fyodor Dostoevsky from master filmmaker and Italian legend Luchino Visconti, in a 4K restoration that marks the movie’s Australian premiere.
