SHORT DESCRIPTION

From the Renaissance age to the new piece written by Pietro only a few months ago.

The Italian accordionist Pietro Roffi comes back to Australia offering once again an extraordinary journey!

PROGRAMME NOTES

This time the journey begins with four traditional Renaissance songs from various European countries (in order: England, Germany, Italy and Spain), arranged for the accordion by Wjatcheslav Semyonov. Then it continues with a fanciful composition by Johann Christoph Friedrich Bach, two “Lyric Pieces” from the romantic period by Edvard Grieg, the “Bulgarian Suite” by the composer Wjatcheslav Semyonov, “La vita è bella” by Nicola Piovani , “Anantango” by the Spanish Gorka Hermosa Sanchez, and finally “Est Ovest”, a recent piece by Pietro Roffi about the story of a special coast-to-coast road trip in Italy.

SHORT BIOGRAPHY

Born in 1992, Pietro Roffi began playing the accordion at the age of six and graduated with full marks and honourable mention at the Conservatory “S. Cecilia” in Rome under the guidance of the Professor Massimiliano Pitocco. He has won over fifteen national and international competitions in the modern genre, including the third prize at the Accordion World Trophy (Spain, Vigo, 2010) and the first prize at the International Competition of Castefidardo (Italy, 2010). He has performed in Italy, England, China, Australia, Malta, Romania, Croatia, Spain, Argentina, Germany, Lithuania, giving over a hundred concerts, as a soloist and with symphony orchestras, in renowned concert halls such as “Die Glocke” in Bremen or “Romanian Athenaeum” in Bucharest. In 2017 he met the Oscar winner Dario Marianelli of whom he played in Rome as a soloist the Concert Suite from the music for the movie “Anna Karenina” (2012) directed by Joe Wright. Following this meeting, Dario Marianelli called him to record his new soundtrack.

Pietro Roffi is invited every year to the judging commissions of important national and international accordion competitions (such as “Premio Internazionale Città di Castelfidardo”). He plays a Bugari Armando Prime, built in Castelfidardo.
