Fare Cinema – Third edition

The IIC Melbourne is pleased to promote by publishing on its social media and YouTube channel the third edition of “Fare cinema“.

Due to the COVID restrictions and the uncertainty of holding live events, the “fair” will come to you online.
For a week, from the 15th to the 21st June 2020, thanks to the partnership between the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and RAI (Italian National broadcast) an extensive range of content focusing on Cinema and its related industry will be available on the RAI Play digital platform, all of it subtitled in English.

Launched in 2018 and organised by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Culture, ANICA (the Italian Cinema Industry Association) ICE (Italian Trade Commission) and Istituto Luce – Cinecittà, Fare cinema is a project focused on the Italian Cinema industry. It is brought to you by the diplomatic offices and the global network of Italian Cultural Institutes to promote Italian Cinema and its professional figures.

Similar to the previous editions, “Fare cinema” focuses on the “trades of cinema” giving visibility and emphasis to the professionalisms that liven up the Italian industry. A compelling part will be dedicated to Federico Fellini and Alberto Sordi on the occasion of their 100 years of birth. A 2020 novelty will be the launch of the first edition of the “Day of Italian Cinema in the World” on 20th June.

First release contents include, among others, a series of videos each with a master class held by Director, Screenwriter and Journalist Gianfranco Angelucci (Fedrico Fellini) and by Journalist and Cinema Critic Gianni Canova (Alberto Sordi and Italian contemporary cinema). There are fourteen video classes focusing on “cinema’s trades”. Two short movies directed by non Italian directors and dedicated to Fellini, produced with the collaboration of the Italian Embassy in Santiago, Chile and the Italian Cultural Institute in Toronto (Canada).

Among the contents already distributed we would like to highlight the following:

  • five titles of the Best short movies of the David Prize 2020, thanks to the Italian Cinema Academy.
  • Three episodes of the series “Offstage” focusing on acting and produced by the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome.
  • Three episodes of the series “Cinema school with RAI Movie” focusing on screenwriting, produced by Association 100 Autori and made available by RAI Movie.
  • Eighteen episodes of the series “Fellini in frames”, an itinerary through Fellini’s cinema realised with material from the archive of Istituto Luce – Cinecittà.

To get all this and much more please visit the IIC Melbourne YouTube channel and RaiPlay.

Buona visione!
