Food Markets III Palermo – 6th Edition of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World

Showcasing Italy and the Italian taste in the world, the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World is a yearly initiative developed to promote Italian culinary traditions and food-and-wine connoisseurship as a distinctive trait of Italian identity and culture.

The theme for the 6th edition (November 22nd-28th, 2021) is Tradition and perspectives of Italian cuisine: awareness and enhancement of food sustainability.

FOOD MARKETS III Palermo
Food Markets tells the stories that hide behind each product placed on the counters, and leads us to discover the wonderful places they come from. Europe shares a heterogeneous and complex food and wine heritage: we have chosen to tell it through the exceptional stories of those who carry on this tradition with commitment every day. The markets in our series are the “navel” of their respective cities: urban spaces that have radically transformed, but which remain the economic center and the symbol of the city and its territory.

PALERMO
In the middle of the old city stands Ballarò, the largest market in Palermo. Here street food is a way of life: from the famous arancini to tasty roasted, salted, pickled or fried meat and fish specialties. Always accompanied by the shouted slogans of the market vendors, we savor the sweet tangerines of the Conca d’oro and wild fennel from the hinterland, to finish with a delicious slice of Sicilian cassata.
