Italian Cine-scapes #2: Urban Space and Architecture Portrayed in 9 Movies

Palace Cinemas and the Istituto Italiano di Cultura Melbourne, in collaboration with Istituto Luce Cinecittà, present the second edition of the successful series Italian Cine-scapes with a new exciting selection of movies that reveal the internal and external landscapes of a bygone and contemporary Italy.

The monthly Sunday night screenings from April until December will be preceded by an aperitivo in the foyer, courtesy of Ciccio & Ciccia Italian Bar & Restaurant at 6pm, a brief introduction to the film, followed by the screening.

Sunday, December 1st: The Seduction of Mimi/ Mimì metallurgico ferito nell’onore
Lina Wertmüller [1972, 121’]

This scorching satire of political and personal corruption focuses on the misadventures of the macho Sicilian laborer Mimi Mardocheo (Giancarlo Giannini) who is forced to leave his family in Sicily. Mimi finds a job in a factory in Turin, where he gets involved in an extramarital affair.
