The 19th edition of the Lavazza Italian Film Festival comes back to Australia to showcase the best of the latest Italian cinematographic production. The Festival will take place in Melbourne between the 13th of September and the 7th of October at selected Palace Cinemas. The Festival will travel to all Australian capital cities, and will end in Hobart on 24 October 2018.
Among the other movies selected to be screened at the 2018 Festival, worth mentioning are Loro by Paolo Sorrentino, centred around the figure of controversial Italian politician Silvio Berlusconi, Dogman by Matteo Garrone, Ammore e malavita (Love and Bullets) by Marco and Antonio Manetti (authors of acclaimed Song’e Napule), Napoli velata (Naples in Veils) by Ferzan Ozpetek as well as a spectacular 4K version of horror classic Suspiria (1977) and a restored version of celebrated Spaghetti Western Per un pugno di dollari (A Fistful of Dollars).
The Italian Film Festival was inaugurated in 2000 by Antonio Zeccola, founder of Palace Cinemas, whose mission has been over the years the presentation and distribution in Australia of quality cinema, as well as dedicating regular annual events to the most interesting and successful movies of the international cinema production. Throughout the years the Italian Film Festival has attracted an ever-growing audience, with over 80,000 people attending nationally the Festival in 2017.
