Monteverdi’s Vespers

Italian concert

Directed by maestro Rinaldo Alessandrini

Claudio Monteverdi composed his Vespro della Beata Vergine in 1610 to demonstrate his mastery of voices and instruments.

The musicians and choir of Concerto Italiano, one of the world’s most celebrated early music ensembles, performs Monteverdi’s Vespers on instruments of the period, vividly recreating the brilliant colours of this iconic work. Directed by Rinaldo Alessandrini, Concerto Italiano is acclaimed for its interpretation of Italian Baroque music, especially that of Monteverdi, recording one of the best-reviewed performances of the Vespers, and moving audiences around the world.
