“Stendalì” is a unique documentation of the ancient funeral weeping in the Grika language of Salento, a peasant funeral lament, a ritual weeping that has ancient roots and origins and it survived until the early 60s.

As for the other works “Pasolini intervened on the edited documentary: he used an 1870 translation from the Salento Greek of the funerary ritual song, but he gave it a new, moving look”.(Cecilia Mangini)
