From 14th to 20th October, the XXIV edition of the Week of the Italian Language in the World (SLIM) will take place under the High Patronage of the President of the Italian Republic. This global event celebrates our language and culture through the collaboration of the diplomatic-consular network of the Italian Cultural Institutes with the traditional partners for language promotion (MIM, MUR, MiC, Swiss Embassy, Accademia della Crusca, Cepell, CGIE, Comunità Radiotelevisiva Italofona, RAI, Società Dante Alighieri and Treccani).
This year’s theme is “The Italian language and books: the world between the lines” and aims to explore the connection between language and literature in the contemporary world, while at the same time highlighting the role of the book as a vehicle of Italy’s cultural heritage, values and identity and the role of the national publishing sector, with the commitment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to its internationalisation.
Furthermore, on the occasion of this XXIV edition, the volume “L’italiano e il libro: il mondo fra le righe” (The Italian language and books: the world between the lines), edited by Rosario Coluccia and available in digital format at the following links, has been specially produced by the Accademia della Crusca:
