The 2025 edition of the Premio Leggiamoci is now open. The competition is promoted by the Fondazione Bellonci, the Center for the Book and Reading of the Ministry of Culture, BPER Banca, and in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), Tirreno Power, 42Gradi – Sustainable Ideas by Vecchie Segherie Mastrototaro, and SYGLA.
The competition is open to young people between the ages of 13 and 19, who can participate by submitting an unpublished short story or illustrated story, written in Italian, on any topic.
How to Participate
-
Textual Story: The story must be between 5,400 and 10,800 characters (including spaces) and must be uploaded exclusively on the platform www.leggiamoci.it through the participant’s personal account. Textual stories cannot be submitted via email and must be directly uploaded to the platform.
-
Illustrated Story: The illustrated story can be created using any technique the author prefers (comic, illustration, silent story, etc.). It must consist of at least one and a maximum of five pages, in digital format (.png or .jpg), with A4 vertical size and a recommended resolution of 300 dpi. It should be sent by email to info@leggiamoci.it using the registered email address, with the subject line “Premio Leggiamoci 2025”. The email body must include the username of the participant’s Leggiamoci account and the title of the story.
The deadline for submitting stories in both categories is Friday, May 23, 2025, at 12:00 PM.
Selection and Prizes
Submitted stories will be published on the leggiamoci.it platform after a review process by the editorial team. Participation will be considered valid based on the submission date (via platform upload for textual stories or email submission for illustrated stories), not the publication date. The editorial team reserves several business days for reviewing and approving the texts.
A panel of experts will review the published stories and select three winners. The authors of the selected stories will receive a handcrafted wooden pen, made by SYGLA, and will be invited to attend La Classe del Festival 42Gradi – Sustainable Ideas in Bisceglie, which includes accommodation, meals, and participation in sustainability workshops, all covered by the organization. The first-place winner will also receive a cash prize of €1,500, sponsored by BPER Banca.
The award ceremony will take place in early June 2025, during the presentation of the Premio Strega Giovani.
Winners will be contacted via the email address provided at the time of registration on the platform. If no response is received within three days of the email being sent, the prizes will be awarded according to the ranking order.
