Caravaggio: the truth and myths of a revolutionary painter

Caravaggio: the truth and myths of a revolutionary painter

With the revolutionary painter Caravaggio, we are launching "Truth, Power and Desire: a journey through the emotions in Italian Art History", a series of webinars to be held by the Italian Art Historian, Prof. Costantino D'Orazio, who many of the friends and members of the IIC met last year. He was supposed to return this year to share his knowledge and the story of Raffaello Sanzio with us.

While waiting for the right conditions to hold our regular events' programme, we have decided to react to the crisis and conceived, in collaboration with our colleaugues in Sydney, a special series of three online conferences dedicated to Italian Art History.

Immoral, murderer, crazy. Genius, prophet, revolutionary. Who was Caravaggio really?

There are still many shadows surrounding the mysterious and controversial figure of Michelangelo Merisi. The Art Historian Costantino D’Orazio throws light across those shadows by rereading the painter’s masterpieces in a journey through time, by reliving the atmospheres of those times and discovering the seductive and deceptive illusions that Caravaggio used to hide deep within his artworks. Fully up-to-date with the most recent discoveries regarding the artist, the conference with Prof. D’Orazio is for those who love Merisi, for those who think they understand him well and want to know more about him and for those who want to discover the charm of this revolutionary painter. There has been no other like him ever since.

This webinar will be held online via zoom and you can book by clicking on this link:
