Fare Cinema 2022 – Italian Screens

Short films of the David di Donatello Awards 2022.

As in the most recent editions, this year too Fare Cinema includes the finalists in the ‘Best Short Film’ category at the David di Donatello Awards, whose ceremony was held on 3 May. Thanks to the collaboration with the Accademia del Cinema Italiano and ANICA, in the week from 13 to 19 June, the films will be visible on the MyMovies platform.

The winner of the award was Nico Bonomolo with ‘Maestrale’, an animated short about the journey of a man struggling between reality and dream. The theme of travel is also taken up by ‘Pilgrims’, by Farnoosh Samadi and Ali Asgari, the story of the desperate ‘pilgrimage’ of two children to find their mother. Tommaso Santambrogio and Valerio Ferrara, directors of ‘L’ultimo spegne la luce’ (Last One Turn Off the Light) and ‘Notte romana’ (Roman Night) respectively, instead deal with the theme of the couple relationship, certainly never easy and never predictable, often undermined by inner misunderstandings or outer hostility. Finally, Camilla Caré’s ‘Diorama’ extends the analysis of relational dynamics to the family group, narrating the tragedy of a family destroyed by its own neuroses.

Five different short films, but all offering important food for thought on life, its purpose, the people who enter and leave it, the fear of losing and the hope of finding.
