ITALIAN FOR TRAVELLING

Overview/course content and outcome:


During this course you will learn how to introduce yourself, giving and asking personal information, how to order in a bar or restaurant, purchase in a shop, book a hotel, ask for directions or make arrangments to meet someone. Cultural knowledge is also part of this course, as it is important for students to be aware of some traditions, beliefs and behaviours they will experience while in Italy.
Different grammar topics are covered during the course, through the use of inductive grammar.
Classes will work on the four abilities (speaking, listening, reading and writing), focusing on the speaking.
A communicative approach is used. Students engage in interactive language activities, participating in group and pair work. Students will also be offered guidance in self-study and homework tasks.
Target audience: Suitable for someone that has no previous knowledge of Italian.
Students are expected to purchase their own textbook.
The teacher will supply additional material, both tailor-made and taken from other sources (textbooks, newspapers and new media).
Duration: 10 weeks, 2 hours weekly 

 

KEEP YOUR ITALIAN ALIVE (ITALIAN FOR ITALO-AUSTRALIANS) 
Overview/course content and outcome:

The course is designed for Italian Australians students of Italian ancestry or origin living in Australia who have a previous knowledge of the language, but want to improve it, through the reading of articles, listening to the news, or watching a movie.
The course is aimed to give you the confidence to talk in Italian, about different range of topics, such as politics, the economy, current affairs and offers you an insight on what Italy is today.
Different grammar topics are covered during the course, through the use of inductive grammar. Classes will work on the four abilities (speaking, listening, reading and writing), focusing on the speaking.
A communicative approach is used. Students engage in interactive language activities, participating in group and pair work. Students will also be offered guidance in self-study and homework tasks.
Target audience: Suitable for someone that has completed level A2 upwards.
The teacher will supply the material, both tailor-made and taken from other sources (textbooks, newspapers and new media).
Duration:10 weeks, 2 hours weekly

 

PRONUNCIATION COURSE

The Italian Diction and Phonetics Course aims to make you communicate better, with more elegance and clarity. In a short time you will improve your pronunciation and you will make yourself better understood by others: your communication will become safer and more effective. Speaking correctly means freeing yourself from pronunciation errors and regional inflections, from habits such as aphonia or dysphonia, and facing problems such as rhotacism , sigmatism.
Duration:10 weeks, 1-hour weekly
Minimum 6 students

 

CERTIFICATION OF ITALIAN AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE (CILS)

These courses are designed to give an ideal preparation to whom that want to take
the CILS exam. The CILS certification (Certification of Italian as a Foreign Language) is a qualification which declares the level of linguistic and communicative competences in Italian as a foreign language. It is awarded by the University of Siena for Foreigners and is recognized by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
