Mara Galeazzi - una ballerina italiana in Australia!

A unique opportunity to meet and mingle with internationally acclaimed Italian dancer Mara Galeazzi.

Mara is coming to Melbourne featuring as principal guest artist of the London's Royal Ballet in FORTE, a collection of new classical and contemporary dance that will premiere at the Deakin Edge at Federation Square on Friday 25th May.

Mara joined London's Royal Ballet in 1992 and was promoted to First Artist in 1995, Soloist at the end of the 1997/98 Season and Principal in September 2003. She retired from the Royal Ballet in June 2013.

IIC members who will be attending the evening will have the chance of winning two tickets to enjoy Mara Galeazzi dancing in FORTE.

About Mara Galeazzi:

Mara was born in Brescia and studied at La Scala, Milan. She joined The Royal Ballet in 1992 and was promoted to First Artist in 1995, Soloist at the end of the 1997/98 Season and Principal in September 2003. She has danced every major role in the classical repertory and had many roles created for her by top choreographers around the world.

Mara has been acknowledged with numerous awards throughout her illustrious career including being appointed ‘Best Italian Dancer Abroad’ (Danza & Danza Award) nominations for Best Female Dancer at Critics’ Circle National Dance Award and the highest acknowledgement for artists in Italy, the medal “Cavaliere Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana” (Knighthood) by the President of Italy.

She has appeared as guest artist with the Stuttgart Ballet, Carla Fracci’s Teatro dell’Opera in Rome and the Scottish Ballet. Mara continues to be a Guest Principal Dancer at the Royal Ballet in London.

Further dance work includes founding the dance group M&T in Motion with Australian choreographer Tim Podesta. In 2016 she created her first piece of choreography, Remembrance, performed with Covent Garden Dance Company in Hatch House, Wiltshire and her charity commitments to ‘Dancing for the Children’, a charity that raises funds for charities across Africa that fight the spread of diseases such as AIDS and help under-privileged children explore the joys of dance.
