As part of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World 2025 (#SCIM2025) ,  the international initiative promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to celebrate the excellence of Italian culinary tradition ,  the Italian Cultural Institute of Melbourne took part in the Melbourne Italian Festa & Expo 2025 with a series of initiatives aimed at promoting Italian culture and creativity.

With the esteemed presence of the Ambassador of Italy to Australia, H.E. Paolo Crudele, and the Consul General of Italy in Melbourne, Chiara Mauri, the Institute had the honour of inaugurating the exhibition I Racconti delle Radici on the opening day of the Festa, 18 October, at the Royal Exhibition Building.

The project, composed of a photographic exhibition of 15 panels and a series of short video features dedicated to the theme of roots, explores Italian cuisine as a custodian of identity and memory for Italians abroad. Through migration, many have carried their culinary traditions with them, transforming and enriching them through sinergia with the cultures of their host countries.

As part of the same celebration, the Italian Cultural Institute also promoted the outstanding jazz concert by the renowned composer and pianist Rita Marcotulli, who performed on the occasion of a special event dedicated to jazz.

On the second day, the Institute proudly presented the final of the Dish Italy Up  Chef Competition, a culinary challenge in which young Italian and Australian chefs reinterpreted Italian cuisine with creativity and a focus on sustainability. Congratulations to the winner, Giacomo @pescato.oceaneats.

The Italian Cultural Institute wishes to express its gratitude to all participants, collaborators, and visitors who contributed to the success of this vibrant weekend dedicated to Italian culture.
