On Friday 6th December 2024, the Italian Cultural Institute of Melbourne, in collaboration with COASIT and COMITES, organizes an event at the bilingual Italian-English primary school of Footscray to donate copies of ‘Pimpa viaggia in Italia’ (‘Timpa travels through Italy’) and ‘Mille meraviglie in blu’ (‘A Thousand Wonders in Blue’).
These two special editions were specifically produced for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation by Franco Cosimo Panini and Edizioni Piemme-Mondadori Libri, with the aim of promoting knowledge of Italy and its territories.
‘Pimpa viaggia in Italia’, designed for a pre-school audience, recounts Timpa’s journey along the Italian peninsula, discovering the historical, gastronomic and scenic beauties of Italy.
‘Mille meraviglie in blu’ has Geronimo Stilton as its protagonist. After the success of the first volume ‘Mille Meraviglie’, this new series tells the story of the Stilton family’s journey along the Italian coast to discover places, traditions and knowledge linked to the culture of the sea.
The school children will be introduced to the characters of the books through an exhibition of 13 interactive panels featuring Timpa and a series of workshops and drawing classes led by the illustrator Erica Facchini.
We thank Footscray Primary School for hosting this event. The choice of the schools was based on the educational and academic values that lead them and for their commitment in promoting Italian language and culture. We also thank our institutional partners COASIT and COMITES for taking part in the organisation.
