The Week of Italian Cuisine in the World is a thematic and annual initiative promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation with the aim of celebrating and spreading Italian gastronomic culture at a global level, highlighting the quality and variety of Italian food products.
This year’s theme is ‘Mediterranean Diet and Roots Cuisine: Health and Tradition’ and aims to highlight Italian food culture and the Mediterranean diet as an engine for growth and development. This edition is therefore a tribute to the Mediterranean Diet, a UNESCO World heritage site, which embodies the essence of a healthy and tasty diet. It is a unique opportunity to explore the sustainability of our products, the richness of our traditions and the deep link between food and well-being.
The Consulate General of Italy in Melbourne and the Italian Cultural Institute of Melbourne, for the ninth edition, present two events to explore the healthy and traditional aspects of Mediterranean cuisine.
In collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of Sydney, on Tuesday 26 November at the Books for Cooks bookstore, Viola Buitoni will present her new cookbook ‘Italy By Ingredient’. This book shows the history and geography of Italy’s most famous ingredients, offering simple yet elegant recipes that reflect the essence of Italian cuisine.
On Thursday, 28 November, an evening of Italian culinary excellence will be held in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce, with the extraordinary participation of MasterChef Guy Grossi. Guests will have the opportunity to taste unique dishes, prepared with authentic ingredients and traditional techniques, enhancing the inimitable taste of Italian cuisine.
